HP StorageWorks Fabric OS 6.1.2_cee1 release notes (5697-0045, June 2009)

features that no longer require a license key.
Licensing behavior
Fabric OS 6.1.2_cee1 is fully compatible with the Data Center Fabric Manager
(DCFM) management software. DCFM is a comprehensive network management
application that enables end-to-end management of HP data center fabrics. It is
the next generation product that is the successor to existing HP management
products, namely HP Fabric Manager (FM) and Enterprise Fabric Connectivity
Manager (EFCM).
DCFM is available in two versions: DCFM Professional, a complimentary
application that is ideally suited for small and medium size businesses that need
a light-weight management product to manage their smaller fabrics (one physical
fabric at a time, up to 1,000 ports); and DCFM Enterprise, that is designed for
enterprise-class customers and showcases unparalleled performance and scalability
(24 physical fabrics, up to 9,000 switch ports). DCFM Enterprise configures and
manages DCX backbones, along with HP StorageWorks directors, routers, and
switches. Existing EFCM and FM customers that have active Maintenance and
Support contracts are provided a seamless migration path to DCFM Enterprise.
Note that the HP StorageWorks 2408 FCoE Converged Network Switch does not
have full management capability with DCFM until version 10.3.0. However,
previous versions will discover the switch and WebTools can be used for switch
management functions.
DCFM compatibility
Table 1 on page 7 lists the earliest versions of HP software supported in this
release; these are the earliest supported software versions that interoperate. HP
recommends using the latest software versions to get the greatest benefit from the
SAN.
Fabric OS compatibility
Additional Fabric OS 6.1.x enhancements
This section describes additional Fabric OS 6.1.x enhancements:
Provides new Fabric OS commands to rename an alias, zone, and zone configuration:
zone copyCopies the zone object to a new zone object
zoneobjectrenameRenames the zone object
Detects and handles a corrupted zone configuration (under /etc/fabos/zone*) without re-
booting. The switch also logs the error in RASLog.
Adds a command that provides both the WWN and serial number of the switch. The sn option
displays the serial number. For example, wwn sn returns both the WWN and the serial number
Provides additional information on a faulty port in Fabric Watch to aid in troubleshooting.
Enables use of passive FTP to download firmware.
Enables the user to specify a quality password policy that prevents the selection of passwords with
consecutive, identical characters.
Uses multiple NTP servers with the tsclockserver command for redundancy. For example, if
one NTP server fails (DR scenario), there is a backup that switches can access.
Logs a RASLog message when a 2.x switch joins the fabric.
High availability failover and user notification occur on the 4/256 SAN Director when there is a
failed Ethernet chip (Oscillator chip).
