General Preferences
On the Preferences screen, click on the General Preferences tab.
The General Preferences tab provides four options, shown in Figure 8-1 and described in
Table 8-1. Click on an option box to select or deselect it. Type a numeric value in the edit
box to change it.

Option Default Description
Automatic Startup
Status Poll
On When this option is turned on (checked), the System Manager will
automatically poll all the entries in the monitored list for current
status whenever the System Manager is restarted. This is equivalent
to choosing Actions > Status Poll from the System Manager
screen.
You may wish to disable this feature if you do not currently have any
HP-UX HIDS agents installed or operational on agent hosts. With the
automatic poll feature disabled,the System Manager will notattempt
to connect to the agent systems and you will avoid an unnecessary
delay or timeout at start-up.
