Component Description
(1) Security cable slot Attaches an optional security cable to the computer.
NOTE: The security cable is designed to act as a deterrent, but
may not prevent the computer from being mishandled or stolen.
(2) RJ-45 (network) jack Connects a network cable.
NOTE: The RJ-45 (network) jack provides Gigabit Ethernet
functionality.
(3) 1394 port (select models only) Connects an optional IEEE 1394 or 1394a device, such as a
camcorder.
(4) Vent Enables airflow to cool internal components.
CAUTION: To prevent overheating, do not obstruct vents. Use
the computer only on a hard, flat surface. Do not allow another hard
surface, such as an adjoining optional printer, or a soft surface,
such as pillows or thick rugs or clothing, to block airflow.
NOTE: The computer fan starts up automatically to cool internal
components and prevent overheating. It is normal for the internal
fan to cycle on and off during routine operation.
(5) HDMI port Connects an optional video or audio device, such as a high-
definition television, or any compatible digital or audio component.
(6) USB ports (2) Connect optional USB devices.
(7) Media Card Reader Supports the following optional digital card formats: MultiMedia
Card (MMC) and Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card.
(8) PC Card slot Supports optional Type I or Type II 32-bit (CardBus) or 16-bit PC
Cards.
