6. Save the file you created so the settings you entered will be available the next time you use
Hyperterminal.
When Hyperterminal is opened, and the saved file is opened, a blank window should be showing with a
flashing cursor in the upper left corner of the window. Press Ctrl D to log on to the FMU. An abbreviation
of the FMU’s site name should appear. From this point, commands may be entered to view or program
information into the FMU.
Use command 00 (zero zero) to display a command summary of the commands applicable to the version
of firmware loaded in the FMU. NOTE: command summaries may not be the same in two different
firmware versions. Use the commands in the command summary to view or program information into the
FMU.
To save information displayed on your laptop screen to a file, you must begin the “capture” before the text
is displayed. Click on “Transfer” and “Capture Text” from Hyperterminal. A “Capture Text” window will
open with prompts to enter a file name. Use “Browse” as necessary to name the file and its location. Click
“Start” to begin capturing text. To complete the screen capture, return to “Transfer” and “Capture Text”
and click on “Stop”. All screen text displayed between “Start” and “Stop” will be saved to the file
previously named. This file can be opened with Word or Notepad to view or print.
Use command 07 to log off, then exit Hyperterminal and disconnect the direct connect cable.
