HP Multiple Displays on zbook 14,15,17

Summary
Utilizing display outputs from both the Integrated Intel GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and the Discrete GPU, the
HP ZBook 15 and ZBook 17 Mobile Workstations support up to a maximum of six independent displays, while the
HP ZBook 14 Mobile Workstation supports up to a maximum of four independent displays.
The number of independent displays supported on these three models depends on a number of factors, including
whether a docking station is used, whether a DisplayPort hub or “daisy-chain” capable display is being used, and in the
case of the HP ZBook 15 and HP ZBook 17, whether hybrid graphics is enabled.
Due to more stringent color requirements, the HP ZBook 15 and HP ZBook 17 models with DreamColor panels only use
display outputs from the discrete GPU, and thus the maximum number of independent displays supported is four.
HP ZBooks without a docking station
HP ZBook 15 and ZBook 17 without the use of a docking station support up to a maximum of four independent displays.
These four displays are the internal panel plus three external displays connected to the VGA, the DisplayPort (DP), and
the Thunderbolt

HP ZBook 14 without the use of a docking station supports up to a maximum of three independent displays. These three
displays are the internal panel plus two external displays connected to the VGA and the DP connectors.

HP ZBooks with docking stations
The HP 2013 UltraSlim Docking Station for the HP ZBook 14 has three display output connectors—VGA and two
DisplayPort. When used together with the HP ZBook 14, a maximum of four independent displays are supported. These
four displays can be any combination of the internal panel, external displays connected to the three display output
connectors from the HP UltraSlim Docking Station (VGA, DP, DP), and display connected to the DP connector on the
HP ZBook.
Note: The VGA connector on the HP ZBook is disabled when using the HP UltraSlim Docking Station.
The previous generation HP UltraSlim Docking Station for the HP ZBook 14 has two display output connectorsVGA and
DisplayPort. When used together with the HP ZBook 14, a maximum of four independent displays are supported.
The HP Docking Station has three display output connectors and the HP Advanced Docking Station has ve display output
connectors. The HP Standard Docking Station has VGA, DVI, and DP connectors.
The HP Advanced Docking Station has VGA and four digital display output connectors (two DVI and two DP). Of those four
digital display connectors, only two may be used at a time (two DVI, two DP, or one DP and one DVI). When used together
with the HP ZBook 15 and 17, a maximum of ve independent displays are supported. These ve displays are the internal
panel plus four external displays connected to three display outputs connectors from the standard or advanced docking
station, and the Thunderbolt connector from the HP ZBook.
