Verifying component status
Verify that the battery is working properly:
Check the controller and battery LEDs. See Table 1.
Open your management software utility and view the status of each
controller and its batteries.
BecausethisdeviceispartoftheExDS9100solution,seethe
ExDS9100 administration guide for additional information.
IMPORTANT:
If the battery has a low charge when installed, the system
temporarily disables the battery while automatically recharging
the battery. When the battery charge is full, the system
automatically enables the battery for use. This process might take
up to four hours. During this time, the cache module functions
properly, but without the performance advantage of the battery
pack. No user action is required.
Disposing of an old battery
WARNING!
The controller uses Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries. There
is risk of explosion, re, and personal injury if the battery pack is
incorrectly replaced or mistreated. To reduce the risk of personal
injury:
Do not attempt to recharge the battery.
Do not expose to temperatures higher than 60
o
C
Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, short external contacts,
or dispose of in re or water.
Replace only with HP spare designated for this product.

Service Provider.
CAUTION:
Do not dispose of batteries, battery packs, and accumulators
with general household waste. Use the public battery collection
system or return them to HP, your authorized HP Partners, or their
