HP StorageWorks 9100 Extreme Data Storage System Server blade installation instructions v1.0.2 (AN542-96003, April 2009)

Before you begin
Before adding a server blade, assign the following IP addresses for the
server blade:
• An IP address for the server blade on each external network (eth2,
eth3, and so on).
• If you use the exds_exgp_default export group, assign an IP address
for a virtual host on each external network.
• If you use the vhttpd Apache service, assign an IP address for a vir-
tual host on each external network
Procedure
IMPORTANT:
The server blade must be an HP ExDS-specific blade. Do not
use a standard blade; otherwise, the install server
command fails with an invalid blade error message.
1. If there are already four server blades in the system and there any
PDUs not connected to a power receptacle, you must connect them
now (that is, all PDUs must be powered when there are four or more
four server blades in the enclosure).
2. On the front of the blade enclosure, in the next available server
blade bay, remove the blank.
3. Prepare the server blade for installation.
4. Install the server blade.
5. To complete the installation of the new server blade, see the section
called “Adding new server blades” in chapter 10 of the HP Storage-
Works 9100 Extreme Data Storage System administration guide.
