HP StorageWorks 9100 Extreme Data Storage System release notes V1.0.2 (AN540-96015, June 2009)

NOTE:
Sometimes the update process fails. If this happens, reset the SAS interconnect and repeat
the firmware update process. This is a known problem that should not occur once the SAS
switch module management firmware is updated to this revision.
f. Disconnect from the interconnect by pressing Ctrl+Shift+_ (the control, Shift, and underscore
keys) simultaneously.
g. Repeat the process for interconnect 4 (that is, the second SAS switch module).
14. Boot the remaining servers as shown in the following example:
# exdsmgr boot server 2-16
15. Re-enable export groups and virtual host IP addresses as described in Chapter 5 of the ExDS9100
administration guide, section Booting the system and individual server blades.
16. Run the exdsmgr syscheck command to validate that the system is operating normally.
Known issues and workarounds
DescriptionIssue
Sendmail service takes 180 seconds to start.
If the DNS configuration is not correct, sendmail will wait for 180 seconds to trying to determine
the correct domain name to use.
Workaround: If the system is taking longer than anticipated to boot, check to make sure that the
sendmail service is using the correct DNS configuration.

If the fs_usage.threshold value is changed, email alerts are not sent automatically.
The Matrix monitor daemon loads fs_usage.threshold value once on startup. A change to the
fs_usage.threshold value is not noticed until the daemon is restarted on all servers.
Workaround: Run /etc/init.d/somon_scripts restart on all servers to restart monitoring
and pick up the fs_usage.threshold value change.

Error: OA time sync failed clock drift may occur.
This can occur when the SAS switch interconnect syslog timestamps are not synchronized with
Onboard Administrator time.
Workaround:
1. ssh onto the OA using the HP ExDS or Administrator username. For example, on a system called
glory, ssh as follows:
# ssh glory-mp -l exds
2. Connect to each SAS switch module, in turn. For example, to log in to the SAS switch in bay
3, use the command:
glory-ExDS-OA1> connect interconnect 3
While logged in to the interconnect, run the reset command.

On some systems the address of the second Onboard Administrator (OA) is not set (shows 0.0.0.0).
Workaround: Before replacing the OA1 module, assign an IP address to OA2. You can do this via
the HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM). The address is in /etc/hosts.
