Customizing mySQL
In this release it is not possible to use mySQL on an HP ExDS9100 system. If such support is required,
contact HP Services for support.
Installing RPMs
Use the install update command to install or upgrade an RPM on the entire system.
CAUTION:
Do not register an HP ExDS9100 system with RedHat Update Agent (up2date).
CAUTION:
The install update should only be used to install RPMs that have been supplied by or approved by HP
for use on an HP ExDS9100 system. Changing the HP ExDS9100 system software can interfere with
normal system operation.
CAUTION:
Do not use the instructions provided in this section to update the pmxs RPM. This is the Matrix
management software and install instructions are supplied with new versions of the pmxs RPM.
The exdsmgr install update installs RPMs only on those servers that are joined to the Matrix
at the time the command is used. Use the exdsmgr show servers command to validate this before
running the command. The command installs the RPMs starting at the highest numbered server and
working down to the first server. Always run the command on the lowest numbered server that is
currently running. When the command finishes, the RPM is installed. Depending on the RPM, you
might need to take additional actions to ensure the new software operates correctly; for example,
you might need to reboot servers.
If a server is down at the time you run exdsmgr install update, the RPMs do not install on the
server. You must re-run the exdsmgr install update command, targeting the omitted server, at
a convenient time when the server is next running.
If you later use the exdsmgr install server command, the RPMs that were installed using the
install update are also installed on the new server.
To install a new version of the HP ExDS9100 firmware RPM:
1. Log in to the lowest number server that is running, usually the first server. For example, glory1.
NOTE:
If you are not logged in to the lowest numbered server, the exdsmgr install update
command will warn you and ask for confirmation before continuing.
