HP StorageWorks 9100 Extreme Data Storage System administration guide V1.0.2 (AN540-96018, February 2010)
If you are receiving too many e-mails, you can change the throttle period of an alert filter. You can
also disable the alert filter, although this means you will not be aware of events occurring on the
system.
Viewing pre-defined filters
A number of pre-defined filters are installed by default in the system. To see the default filters, enter
the command show alert filters.
Creating e-mail alert filters
To create an alert filter, enter the command # exdsmgr create alert filter.
When prompted, enter the name and other attributes of the alert filter.
Modifying alert filters
To modify an alert filter, enter the command # exdsmgr modify alert filter fs_usage
where fs_usage is the name of the alert filter being changed.
At the prompt, enter the desired attributes.
Disabling and enabling alert filters
To disable an alert filter, enter the command # exdsmgr disable alert filter fs_usage
where fs_usage is the name of the alert filter being disabled.
To enable an alert filter, enter the command # exdsmgr enable alert filter fs_usage
where fs_usage is the name of the alert filter being enabled.
Deleting alert filters
To delete an alert filter, enter the command # exdsmgr delete alert filter fs_usage
where fs_usage is the name of the alert filter being deleted.
Viewing alert history
When an email alert is sent, a record is kept in the alert history. You can view this history using the
exdsmgr show alert history command. The syntax of the command is as follows:
exdsmgr show alert history [<id>|all]
where id is the identification number of a specific alert. If no option is specified all email alerts are
displayed.
Deleting alert history
When the alert history becomes too large to process, you can delete it using the exdsmgr delete
alert history command.
