HP StorageWorks 9100 Extreme Data Storage System administration guide V1.0.2 (AN540-96018, February 2010)
# exds_netperf --serial --server “16.123.123.1 16.123.123.2”
• On a client host, run exds_netperf in parallel mode, as shown in the following example. In
this example, hosts blue and red are the tested clients (exds_netperf itself could be one of these
hosts or on a third host):
# exds_netperf --parallell \
--server “16.123.123.1,16.123.123.2” \
--clients “red,blue”
Normally, the IP addresses you use are the IP addresses of the host interfaces (eth2, eth3, and so on).
You can use virtual host IP addresses. However, you should make sure that all virtual hosts are running
on their primary server; otherwise, a network interface is overloaded, and the results appear distorted.
Performance charting (colplot)
Performance data is gathered automatically by the collectl utility. The data is stored in /var/
mxso/collectl. There is a browser interface that allows you to view performance charts. This
interface is known as colplot.
The performance data gathered by collectl includes the following:
• CPU and memory usage
• Disk I/O
• NFS detail data
• Network interface data
The data is gathered every minute. The data log rolls at 00:01 and is retained for five days.
To view the performance data:
1. Point your browser at any HP ExDS9100 server at port 9070 using a URL such as:
http://16.123.123.1:9070
2. Click the Performance Chart link.
3. Your browser should now show a number of performance charts. The charts show historical in-
formation. The data in /var/mxso/collectl is updated every minute. However, the charts
do not automatically update. To see the latest data, click Reload.
4. If you want to view different performance data, click the Colplot Main Screen link to customize
your view of the performance data.
As an alternative to the Web browser interface, you can use the collectl command to print out
the performance data contained in /var/mxso/collectl. For more information about collectl
and colplot, see collectl.sourceforge.net.
