Escalating issues
The HP ExDS9100 escalate tool produces a report on the state of the system. When you report a
problem to HP technical support, you will always be asked for an escalate report, so it saves time if
you include the report up front.
The command can run in either of these ways. To work in exdsmgr, the utility database must be
working. If not, use the mxso_escalate command directly.
[root@glory1 ~]# exdsmgr escalate
[root@glory1 ~]# mxso_escalate
The escalate tool needs the root password to perform some actions. Be prepared to enter the root
password when prompted.
There are a few useful options; however, you can usually run without options. The -h option displays
the available options.
It is normal for the escalate command to take a long time (over 20 minutes).
When the escalate tool finishes, it generates a report and stores it in a file such as /
exds_glory1_escalate.tgz. Copy this file to another system and send it to HP Services.
Useful utilities and processes
Crashing a system
It is not possible to take a crash dump of a system because it will be fenced by other servers before
the crash dump completes.
