Replacing the Ethernet Virtual Connect (VC) module (bay 1 or bay 2)

1. Disconnect the network connections into the Ethernet Virtual Connect (the module in bay 1 or 2).
2. Remove the VC module.

Replacing the Virtual Connect module in bay 5, 6, 7, or 8
NOTE:
Clients lose connectivity during this procedure.
NOTE:
You must replace the Virtual Connect modules with the same type. Specifically, do not mix copper
and Fibre Virtual Connect modules in the same HP ExDS system.
1. Remove the uplink.
2. Remove the Virtual Connect module.
3. Replace the Virtual Connect module.
4. Reconnect the uplink.
5. Run the exdsmgr syscheck command to versions of the VC.
Replacing a failed SAS switch in bay 3 or 4
IMPORTANT:
This section describes the process for replacing a non-functioning SAS switch. If the SAS switch is
running normally, or only slightly degraded that is, with one or two non-functioning ports use the
process described in Removing a functional SAS switch in bay 3 or 4 .
You can tell whether a SAS switch is working by running the exds_stdiagcommand. If the command
reports at least one controller in slot 1, the SAS switch in bay 3 (left switch) is working. If the command
reports at least one controller in slot 2. the SAS switch in bay 4 ( right switch) is working.
If a SAS switch fails, storage access continues via the remaining SAS switch. Such an event causes
storage access to all LUNs to set their preference to the remaining data path. This preference will
remain in place until storage units are reset or the remaining path becomes unavailable.
