Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Version 2.0D Network Administration Guide
5–18 Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Network Administration Guide
Configuring the EVM Network
HP recommends that the host agent be installed on each node in the cluster. When the
EVM V2.0D host agent is present on a cluster, EVM provides the following:
• EVM jobs can mount BCVs of noncluster volumes to individual active hosts and
can mount BCVs of cluster volumes to a cluster. The cluster volumes are visible to
all hosts in the cluster.
• EVM displays a host icon for each active host in the cluster, plus one additional
icon, in capital letters, that represents the cluster itself.
• EVM reports a Cluster property of
No for icons that represent individual hosts in
the cluster and Ye s for the icon that represents the cluster itself.
• EVM displays icons for noncluster volumes that are associated with individual
hosts in the cluster, plus icons for cluster volumes that are associated with the
cluster itself.
Windows NT
EVM host agent V2.0D for Windows NT is not cluster-aware, but is supported on host
clusters that use MSCS (Microsoft Cluster Service) for
Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Edition, with the following limitations:
• A node becomes unavailable for job operations when the node running the EVM
host agent fails.
• If you are creating a BCV of the cluster quorum disk, do not mount the BCV on a
member of the same cluster.
• Host cluster support should be installed only on MSCS cluster nodes. Enabling
this feature on nonclustered systems causes undesirable side effects. Host cluster
support need be enabled on only one node of the cluster.
• EVM displays a host icon for each active host in the cluster, plus one additional
icon, in capital letters, that represents the cluster itself.

the cluster and Ye s for the icon that represents the cluster itself.
