Adding or Removing a Host Computer
This chapter explains how to add a host computer to, and delete a host computer from,
an EVM network.
Adding a Computer to an EVM Network
The procedure for adding an additional host computer to an EVM network is identical
to the procedure for adding the first computer.
NOTE: For installation procedures, refer to the EVM V2.0D Installation Guide for Windows
hosts, the Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Server Version 2.0D Update Installation
Guide, AA-RQ7YB-TE, and the appropriate EVM Host Agent Update Installation Guide for HP
Tru64 UNIX, HP-UX, IBM AIX, and Sun Solaris hosts.
Consider the following when planning to add a computer to an EVM network:
Each host computer must be visible to the Management Appliance.
The Management Appliance must be running before a host computer is added;
otherwise, the host computer cannot be added to the EVM network.
Removing EVM from a Host Computer
This section discusses considerations for removing an EVM host agent from a host
computer. Before removing the EVM host agent, review the following considerations
and plan the removal accordingly.
CAUTION: Removing the EVM host agent from a computer also removes the host
computer from the EVM network. If not properly planned, removing EVM from a host
computer can result in reduced operational capabilities and loss of data on BCVs.
NOTE: To remove an EVM host agent from a host computer, see the EVM V2.0D Installation
Guide for Windows hosts or the appropriate EVM Host Agent Update Installation Guide for HP
Tru64 UNIX, HP-UX, IBM AIX, or Sun Solaris hosts.
