Speaker
Before removing the speaker assembly, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see “Battery” on page 4-7).
5. Remove the following components:
a. Optical drive (see “Optical drive” on page 4-9)
b. Hard drive (see “Hard drive” on page 4-15)
c. Switch cover and keyboard (see “Switch cover and keyboard” on page 4-20).
d. Display assembly (see “Display assembly” on page 4-25)
Remove the speaker:
1. Turn the computer right side up, with the front toward you.
2. Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board 1.
3. Remove the four Phillips PM2.5×6.0 screws 2 that secure the speaker to the top cover.
4. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw 3 that secures the speaker to the top cover.
5. Lift the speaker up and off the top cover 4.
Reverse this procedure to install the speaker.
