5.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 at the bottom module. Tighten all screws that hold
the PTM to the angle brackets while ensuring that:
a.
The PTM is centered horizontally, as indicated by the flange
engaging the slot on the top and bottom modules.
b.
It is centered vertically, as indicated by the bottom of the bottom of
the PTM being flush with the bottom of the lowest module.
c.
The PTM is pressed firmly against the backs of the top and bottom
modules.
6.
One at a time, push the remaining modules into place and tighten the
retaining screws. In each case, ensure that the module does not bind
against an adjacent module, that clearance between modules is evenly
divided between top and bottom, and that the flange on the PTM
engages the slot on the back of the module.
7.
If binding occurs, or if the module is not centered on the PTM, loosen
the four screws (2 each side) that secure the rail slides of the binding
module to the front rails of the rack and the four screws (2 each side)
that secure the rail slides to the rear rails of the rack.
8.
Re-position the rail slides and then re-tighten the screws.
9.
If necessary, repeat steps 7 and 8 until the module does not bind against
the slides or against adjacent modules.
10.
Repeat steps 7, 8, and 9 for all of the remaining modules.
Interfaces and Cabling
The connections required depend on the type of module (Figure 3-12 and
Table 3-8). The Expansion Unit always has the SCSI connection to the host for
the library robotics. MiniLibrary Base Modules have a separate SCSI
connection to the host for each drive* (with the exception of the TL881 single-
ended MiniLibrary), but the SCSI connectors for the robotics should not be
used. The portion of the library robotics that is located in the MiniLibrary Base
Modules are controlled by the Expansion Unit through a cable connected to
the expansion interface connector on each module. Each module has a separate
AC power connection.
IMPORTANT:
It is possible to daisy-chain the SCSI connections for multiple drives, to
save SCSI controllers. Compaq strongly recommends against this practice because it can
severely limit the data throughput performance and reliability of the library.
