Installation Instructions
Choose a suitable location and unpack the components according to the unpacking instructions
included with each component.
WARNING: Make sure the power is off to each component and power cords are
unplugged before making any of these connections.
IMPORTANT: Read the documentation included with each component for additional operating
instructions before installing.
Installing the Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter into each Server
Install a Fibre Channel Host Adapter in each server to be connected to the Enterprise Backup
Solution. Refer to the documentation provided in the Fibre Channel Host Adapter Kit.
Connecting the TL895 Library to the FCTC
1.
Connect the TL895 library to the FCTC(s) using SCSI cables.
2.
The other SCSI port on the FCTC must be terminated with the Differential Terminator
supplied.
Refer to the table below to perform Steps 1 and 2. The number of cables and Fibre Channel
Tape Controller(s) (FCTC) used varies depending upon the number of drives in each library.

NOTE: Do not connect to or externally terminate SCSI Ports 2, 4, 6, & 8.
Connecting the FCTC(s) to the Storage Hub 12
Connect the FCTC(s) to Storage Hub 12 using Fibre Channel cables.
1.
Connect one end of a Fibre Channel cable to each FCTC.
2.
Install a GBIC-SW module into each hub port you plan to use.
3.
Connect the Fibre Channel cables to the GBIC modules.
