Converting an HP integrated XenServer server to Citrix XenServer retail release

6
When adding the new server back into the pool, any additional management interfaces that were
defined for the original server must be added back to the new server. For example, if the original
configuration had the Primary Interface to manage the server and a second interface for iSCSI storage
access by the server, the second interface will not be automatically added.
The steps necessary to force joining of a pool and designating a new master can also be done from
the command line. The command
xe pool-join
with a
force=TRUE
option will force the server into the
pool. The command
xe designate-new-master host-uuid=<uuid>
can be used to specify the new pool
master. Use the UUID of the newly installed server to specify it as the new pool master.
Summary
Following these steps will allow converting a ProLiant server running HP integrated XenServer 5.0 or
higher to the retail version of Citrix XenServer 5.5.
