unbiased information that consumers and businesses rely on to make well-informed decisions. Thousands of
industrial, commercial, utility, state, and local organizations—including more than 40 percent of the Fortune
500®—partner with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to deliver cost-saving energy
efficiency solutions that improve air quality and protect the climate.

is an ecolabel that is directly recognized in the US and partner-countries. ENERGY STAR® is an
ecolabel that is directly recognized in the US and partner-countries, and US Federal government agencies are
required to purchase only ENERGY STAR certified products when available.
Partner-countries that currently have agreements with the US EPA on ENERGY STAR®: Canada, Japan, Taiwan
and Switzerland.
ENERGY STAR®
ENERGY STAR® v3.0 specifications for imaging equipment is effective as of Oct. 11, 2019. Compliance is
based on the date products are manufactured.

System requirements
The changes listed below affect FutureSmart 4.x devices.
This document only applies to printers manufactured after October 10, 2019. Refer the Certified Printers section
for the list of printers.
Product behavior changes to meet ENERGY STAR® v3.0
For HP printers to obtain the ENERY STAR v3.0 certification, changes may be required. The following changes
have been implemented in order to meet the new requirements:
• Decrease in Total Energy Consumption (TEC).
• Sleep time settings changes : Removed customer ability to disable power save.
• First Paper Out Time (FPOT) Improvements.
• Default Auto Duplex enabled.
• Updated Fax cards for LaserJet M830.
• Products that were prior to FutureSmart 3.x, will be updated to FutureSmart 4.x from the factory.
• N bundle (simplex) products cannot be ES 3.0.

The following section provides the list of certified HP printers. Products that are not listed are not certified.
