Firmware upgrade instructions
Fabric OS 6.1.0_8e1 is the initial release for the Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class,
and s hips pre-loaded from the factory. For the EVA 4400 embedded switch (5410), which initially
shipped with 6.1.0_8e; Fabric OS 6.1.0_8e1 is a valid firmware, but provides no fixes for the EV A switch
beyond 6.1.0_8e. N o update is necessary, or recommended for the EVA 4400 embedded switch.

Prioritization
• When using Quality of Servi ce (QoS) in a fabric with 4Gb ports or switches,
Fabric OS 6.x or later must be installed on all products in order to pass QoS
information. E_Ports from the DC Director to other switches must come up
AFTER 6.0 is running on those switches.
• Flow based QoS is NOT supported on 8Gb blades in the 4/256 SAN Director
• Any products that are not capable of operating with Fabric OS 6.x may NOT
exist in a fabric with Flow based QoS. Major problems will occur i f previous
generation 2Gb products exist in the fabric.

• When usin g the FCS Automatic D istribution feature in Fabric OS 6.0 or later,
all swit
ches in the fabric must be running Fabric OS 6.0 or later. If any switches
are runn
ing Fabric OS 5.x or earlier, only manual distribution can be used.
• Fabric
OS 6.0 or later will only allow FCS automatic distribution when in strict
mode, r
equiring only switches with Fabric OS 6.0 or later.
TrafficIsolationoverFCR
• All switches and Fibre Channel Routers both in edge an d backbone fabrics
must be running Fabric OS 6.1.0, in order to support this feature.
• It is essential to have “fail-over” policy ENABLED in all ed ge fabrics t hat are
part of the traffic isolation zones, in order for the proper functioning of Traffic
Isolation over FC R.
Port Fencing
Port Fencing is only supported on E_Port and F_Port classes. Port Fencing is
available with the optional Fabric Watch license.
F_Port Trunking with
Access Gateway
For
the EVA4400 Embedded Switch Module or Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch for
HP B
ladeSystem c-Class—F_Port Trunking is not supported on ports connected
dir
ectly to a switch in Access Gateway mode.
agshow command
When an Access Gateway is exclusively connected to non-Fabric OS based
switches, it will not show up in the agshow output on other B-Series switches
in the fabric.
Port Mirroring
Proper behavior of Port Mirroring functionality requires that the entire frame path
must contain either only 8Gb ASICs or only 4Gb ASICs. If a frame path contains
amixof8Gband4GbASICs,PortMirroringwillnotworkasintended.
Internal port speed

he internal ports on the EVA4400 embedded switch are configured in the
factory, fixed at 4Gbp/s and should not be changed.
