EVA4400 embedded switch (5410)
The EVA4400 embedded switch is a highly-available, redundant SAN switching solution embedded in
the HP EVA 4400 disk array enclosure. The switch frees up critical rack space, and provides a reduction
in cabling, while sharing the EVA’s power and cooling resources. Brocade Fabric OS 6.1.0_8ex is
the fabric operating system running on the EVA4400 embedded switch which provides the following
Fibre Channel switch features:
• 10 external ports, two internal ports per module, 24 ports total (for redundancy there are t wo
EVA4400 embedded switches in each EVA 4400 that is configured with the embedded switch)
• Eight Gbp/s technology on external ports
• External ports support two trunk groups; port numbers 1 through 6 in one trunk, and port numbers
7 through 10 in the second trunk
Fabric OS 6.1.0_8ex firmware is functionally equ ivalent to Fabric OS 6.1.0x with the exception that the
following features are not suppor ted by the EVA4400 embedded switch in this release:
• Access G ateway mode
• Integrated Routing
• FICON
• Dynamic Ports On Demand (DPOD)
