HP B-series Fabric OS 7.1.1a Release Notes (5697-3023, November 2013 - includes all 7.1.1x versions)
Version
7.1.1a
NOTE: This software conforms to FC standards and accepted engineering practices and
procedures.
Description
Fabric OS 7.1.1a is a patch release based on Fabric OS 7.1.1 that includes the same hardware
support, features, and fixes supported in 7.1.0a and 7.1.1, plus additional fixes important to HP
for 7.1.1a.
NOTE: Starting with Fabric OS 7.1, the HP B-series MP Router Blade (FR4-18i) and the HP SAN
Director 6 Port 10 Gb ISL Blade (FC10-6) are no longer supported on the HP DC SAN Backbone
Director/HP DC04 SAN Director Switches.
Update recommendation
HP strongly recommends that you upgrade to Fabric OS 7.1.1a as soon as possible to take
advantage of the latest fixes and features.
For more information, see “Firmware upgrade instructions” (page 29).
IMPORTANT: Although HP does not support Fabric OS 7.1.0, please note the following issue:
Before upgrading to Fabric OS 7.1.1a from Fabric OS 7.1.0, you must run the supportSave
command to save any existing error log information. Once the switch is upgraded to Fabric OS
7.1.1a, any previously existing error log entries on the switch are lost; only new error log entries
created while running Fabric OS 7.1.1a are retained.
This issue is applicable only if the firmware version you are upgrading from is Fabric OS 7.1.0.
This is not an issue if the upgrade is being performed from Fabric OS 7.1.0a, 7.1.0b, 7.1.1, or
7.0.x to Fabric OS 7.1.1a, the existing error log entries are preserved even after upgrading to
Fabric OS 7.1.1a. See “Fabric OS Upgrade and Downgrade Special Considerations” (page 28)
for additional information.
Supersedes
Fabric OS 7.1.1, released July 2013.
Optionally licensed software
Fabric OS 7.1.0a and later include all basic switch and fabric support software, as well as
optionally licensed software that is enabled through license keys. Optionally licensed features
supported in Fabric OS 7.1.0a and later include the following:
• Brocade Ports on Demand allows customers to instantly scale the fabric by provisioning
additional ports through license key upgrade (applies to select models of switches).
• Brocade Extended Fabrics provides greater than 10 km of switched fabric connectivity at full
bandwidth over long distances (depending on the platform, this can be up to 3000 km).
• Brocade ISL Trunking provides the ability to aggregate multiple physical links into one logical
link for enhanced network performance and fault tolerance. Also includes Access Gateway
ISL Trunking on those products that support Access Gateway deployment.
• Brocade Advanced Performance Monitoring enables performance monitoring of networked
storage resources. This license includes the Top Talkers feature.
• Brocade Fabric Watch monitors mission-critical switch operations and provides notification if
established limits or thresholds are exceeded. Fabric Watch includes Port Fencing capabilities.
