large blocks to a 3rd party device (a virtual tape controller).
Missing Device end errors are displayed during tape write
pipelining.
Workaround prior to upgrade:VM host not able to vary on Tape CHPIDs through the
FICON Tape Emulating Tunnel.
Disable FICON Tape Pipelining, or upgrade Fabric OS
and modify the FCIP Tunnel FICON Debug flags to include
the 0x20 bit. The command to modify the FICON Debug
Flag value is: portcfg fciptunnel <slot/>vePort
modify --ficon-debug <flag>
Where "flag" is a hex number that includes the 0x20 bit.
e.g. root> portcfg fciptunnel 16 modify
--ficon-debug f7c90020
You can confirm the FICON Debug Flag setting by the
following command:
Spike163:root> portshow xtun 16 -ficon
-stats
Output at the end of the display will include the current
FICON debug flag settings:
Bit 5 [0x00000020] = 1 :
DISABLE_TAPE_MULTIPATH_PROTECTION
