Version 7.1.0_blv NOTE: This software conforms to FC standards and accepted engineering practices and procedures. Description Fabric OS 7.1.0_blv is a platform-specific release to exclusively support the Brocade 16Gb SAN Switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class. Other than exceptions noted in these release notes, the Fabric OS 7.1.0_blv release is functionally equivalent to Fabric OS 7.1.0b as it pertains to the HP SN6000B 16Gb FC SAN Switch. NOTE: Fabric OS 7.1.
• Utilizes Advanced Web Tools to simplify fabric setup and ongoing maintenance for new SAN administrators NOTE: HP SAN Network Advisor 12.0.2 is the minimum version required to manage the Brocade 16Gb SAN Switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class. • Protects existing investments by providing backward-compatibility to external 8 Gbps and 4 Gbps devices NOTE: The internal ports of the Brocade 16Gb SAN Switch for HP BLadeSystem c-Class do not support 4 Gbps speeds.
• • • • Advanced Performance Monitoring (APM) Enhancements: ◦ Coexistence of TopTalkers and APM on 16 Gbps platforms ◦ E_Port TopTalkers support and E_Port End-to-End monitor support on 16 Gbps platforms ◦ APM support on Access Gateway – End-to-End monitors and Frame monitors Security Enhancements ◦ User defined roles/RBAC ◦ SSH public key authentication support for multiple users ◦ SFTP support for firmware download/config upload/download ◦ IPv6 support for LDAP authentication ◦ Switch
In-flight Encryption and compression: In-flight encryption and compression allows for wire-speed encryption and compression of the incoming data, so data is protected as soon as it enters an HP SAN. Forward Error Correction (FEC): The FEC feature allows recovering of error bits in a 16 Gbps data stream. It can correct up to 11 error bits in every 2112-bit transmission. This feature is enabled by default on all ISLs of 16 Gbps FC platforms.
RASlog message. Users can configure email or RASlog actions for each FRU state using the fwFruCfg command. Additional Fabric Watch enhancements: • Pause and continue monitoring functionality is provided to monitor specific components at an element-level granularity. This feature allows users to stop or start monitoring a set of thresholds related to certain class, area, and index values. • Thresholds for Packet loss area of VE port class can be configured to a real number up to two decimal places (0.
condition via a RASlog message, which helps users to diagnose and resolve this problem quickly. • Ability to assign names to logical fabrics: The fabric naming feature allows users to assign a user-friendly name to identify and manage a logical fabric. • No direct E_Port support with legacy M-series (McDATA) switch: This release supports only interopmode 0 and does not support interoperability with an M-series (McDATA) switch via direct E_Port connectivity.
• Brocade ISL Trunking provides the ability to aggregate multiple physical links into one logical link for enhanced network performance and fault tolerance. Also includes Access Gateway ISL Trunking on those products that support Access Gateway deployment. This license is available as an option and can be applied to the Brocade 16Gb/16 SAN Switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class and the Brocade 16Gb/28 SAN Switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class switch models.
Access Gateway support Access Gateway is supported with Fabric OS 7.1.0_blv on all three models of the Brocade 16Gb SAN Switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class. Prerequisites Table 1 (page 10) lists the supported Fabric OS firmware versions. HP recommends that you use the latest supported firmware versions to get the greatest benefit from the SAN. HP Network Advisor compatibility Fabric OS 7.1.0_blv is fully compatible with HP Network Advisor 12.0.2 or later management software. HP Network Advisor is a comprehensive SAN management application that enables end-to-end management of HP B-series data center fabrics. It is the next-generation product and the successor to DCFM. HP Network Advisor is available in three versions (see the HP B-series Network Advisor Enterprise, Professional Plus, and Professional 12.0.
NOTE: To upgrade from one level to another (for example from DCFM Professional Plus Software to SAN Network Advisor Enterprise Software), you must first migrate from DCFM Professional Plus to SAN Network Advisor Professional Plus and then purchase and apply the SAN Network Professional Plus Upgrade. Before Upgrading or Installing the Firmware Fabric OS 7.1.0_blv is the initial release of the Brocade 16Gb SAN Switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class.
