HP StorageWorks Fabric Manager 5.X Release Notes (AA-RUR2F-TE, September 2005)
11Fabric Manager 5.x release notes
Memory leak and
reboot due to
performance
monitoring
Issue: Enabling performance monitoring causes a memory leak on switches running Fabric OS
3.2.1a. The memory leak eventually causes the switches to panic.
Workaround: Upgrade all switches running Fabric OS 3.x to a Fabric OS version later
than 3.1.2.xa.
Performance
monitoring port
statistics
Issue: On Fabric OS 4.2.0b or earlier, the performance monitoring port statistics are returned
incorrectly.
Workaround: Upgrade the firmware on the switch to Fabric OS 4.2.0c or later.
Issue: Switches running Fabric OS 2.6x that enable port statistics could receive an error code
(-89) indicating that all RPC connections are in use and no additional connections can be
opened.
Workaround: Reboot the switch or use a different launch switch that is not running
Fabric OS 2.6x.
Physical inventory
refresh
If an MP Router is part of a fabric, a -36 error occurs whenever Physical Inventory runs and the
MP Router has one or more ports configured as GigE.
A physical inventory refresh on an XPath fabric returns error -36. Physical inventory
refresh is not supported on XPath fabrics.
Ports table and
port at-a-glance
view
Fabric Manager displays N/A as the long distance type in the ports table and the port
at-a-glance view for XPath OS 7.1.2. The long distance column in the ports table and port
at-a-glance view should display L0, L0.5, or LE.
Possible switch
reboot due to
memory leak in
FOS 4.4.0 and
earlier
Issue: For switches running Fabric OS 4.4.0 and earlier, a memory leak resulting in an EVMD
panic can lead to an eventual switch failover, depending on the amount of available memory in
the switch.
Workaround: Upgrade to Fabric OS versions later than 4.4.0d or 5.0.1, or disable
performance monitoring (PM and end-to-end) and change management from Fabric
Manager 4.2 and earlier.
Possible switch
reboot due to
memory leak in
weblinker of FOS
4.4.0
Issue: For switches running Fabric OS 4.2.2, a memory leak in Weblinker can lead to an
eventual switch reboot or failover, depending on the amount of available memory in the switch.
Workaround: To monitor fabrics from Fabric Manager 4.0 and later, and Advanced
Web Tools 4.2.2, upgrade to Fabric OS versions later than 4.2.2b, 4.4.0d, or 5.0.1.
StorageWorks
1GB Switches
scalability limits
Exhaustive testing has demonstrated that HP StorageWorks 1 GB switches should not be
deployed in fabrics whose size exceeds 500 user ports (device ports). Such switches are not
supported in fabrics that exceed this size, regardless of Fabric OS version.
Solaris 8 Issue: Selecting a different paper size in the printer dialog box does not work.
Workaround: Use the view option to split up the table into half and print each piece
one at a time.
