HP StorageWorks Fabric Manager 5.x Administrator Guide (AA-RUQSF-TE, September 2005)

240 Troubleshooting
To print the supportShow command output:
1. In the SAN Elements tab, right-click a switch and select supportShow from the context menu.
A save dialog box opens.
2. Enter a name for the file and select a location where you want to save the file.
NOTE: You can also generate fmSupportShow (in Windows) by selecting Start Menu > Programs >
Fabric Manager > Utilities > Capture FM Support Information.
Topology
This section describes problem scenarios related to topology.

Nodes swapped with another switch node
Nodes are repositioned after expanding or collapsing link bundles in any of the topology layouts.
Sometimes the nodes are not only repositioned but also swapped with another switch node.
Lettering in legend unreadable when printed
When you print a topology layout in one page that does not originally fit the screen, the lettering in the
legend becomes too small to read.
To avoid this problem, zoom the Topology view so that it fits on the screen. Use the snapshot feature to
save the layout to a PNG graphics file. Then, using a graphics program or web browser, print out the
topology from one of these applications.
Links do not reconfigure after disruptive failover
Links sometimes do not reconfigure correctly in the core-edge topology mode after a disruptive HA failover,
causing them to be out of proportion.
Whenever the ISL links that connect to the nodes end up out of proportion, select any of the ISL link styles
and the topology layout issue is then corrected.
Links displayed incorrectly if fabric is displayed for an extended time
If a fabric is displayed in the Topology tree layout for an extended period of time while the fabric is being
reconfigured, the links may be displayed incorrectly.
To avoid the problem, do not display a large fabric in the topology-tree layout for extended time periods
when the fabric is reconfiguring. Toggle between the two link styles (straight and orthogonal), or collapse
and expand the graph node to recover from this problem.
Nodes overlap
If you move nodes and then redo the view in the tree layout, the nodes can sometimes overlap.
Pinpointing additional problem areas
This section describes specific problems that you might experience with Fabric Manager. A solution to each
problem is included.
