HP StorageWorks Fabric Manager 5.x Administrator Guide (AA-RUQSF-TE, September 2005)

Fabric Manager 5.x administrator guide 173
15 Managing secure fabrics
You can create a secure fabric using Fabric Manager. However, you cannot enable secure mode on a
fabric unless all switches in the fabric have a Secure Fabric OS license, a zoning license, and security
certificates installed. For more information about security certificates, see the HP StorageWorks Fabric OS
5.x Secure Fabric administrator guide.
This chapter provides information on enabling secure mode for a fabric, adding a switch to a secure
fabric, and merging secure fabrics. It also includes information about using the policy editor to configure
security policies, and provides instructions for configuring no node WWN zoning, changing admin
security passwords (for FCS or non-FCS switches and directors), and using telnet on a secure fabric.
Consult the following sections for specific secure fabric information:

Enabling secure mode
This section shows you how to create a secure fabric using the Secure Fabric wizard. If your primary FCS
switch is not running either Fabric OS 4.4.0 or later, or Fabric OS 3.2x or later, you cannot use the Secure
Fabric wizard. You must enable or disable secure mode using the CLI. See the HP StorageWorks Fabric
OS 5.x Secure Fabric administrator guide for CLI information. All switches in the fabric must be running
Fabric OS 4.1x or later, Fabric OS 3.1x or later, or Fabric OS 2.6.1x or later even if they are using CLI or
the Secure Fabric wizard.
You cannot enable secure mode on a fabric unless all switches in the fabric have a Secure Fabric OS
license, zoning license, and security certificates installed. For more information about certificates, see the
HP StorageWorks Fabric OS 5.x Secure Fabric administrator guide.
To launch the Secure Fabric wizard to create a secure fabric:
1. Select the fabric on which you want to enable secure mode from the SAN Elements tab.
2. In the Content pane, right-click in the At-A-Glance window of the fabric in the Overview view and select
Security > Enable Secure Mode from the context menu.
The Enable Secure Mode for Fabric wizard is launched (see Figure 105).
