Resetting iPod
Most problems with iPod can be solved by resetting it.
1 Connect iPod to a power outlet using the iPod Power Adapter.
2 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, then turn it off again).
3 Press and hold the Select and Menu buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple
logo appears.
Identifying Your PC USB Port Type
You can check what type of USB port your PC is using.
1 Click Start on the taskbar.
2 Click Control Panel.
3 Click Performance and Maintenance, if it is present.
4 Double-click System. The System Properties window opens.
5 Click the Hardware tab.
6 Click the Device Manager button. A list of device types appears. (If the list does
not display, click View and select the Devices by Type option.)
7 Click the + (plus) box next to the device type name for Universal Serial Bus (USB)
controllers (sometimes known as Human Interface Devices) to view the list of
device names.
8 If the USB type listed says USB Enhanced Host, then your PC has a USB 2.0 port.
USB 2.0 was introduced in 2001. PC models earlier than 2001 probably have
USB 1.1 ports. iPod does not support USB 1.1.
