4. UNIT INSTALLATION

For information on router configuration for a specific application, refer to the quick configuration
documents provided on your ProCurve SROS Documentation CD. For details on the command line
interface, refer to the SROS Command Line Interface Reference Guide (also included on your CD).
Tools Required
The following customer-provided tools are required for the hardware installation of the ProCurve Secure
Router:
Ethernet cable
Network cable (module dependent)
DSX-1 cable (1xT1 + DSX-1 module only)
G.703 cable (1xE1 + G.703 module only)
Backup cable (backup functions require an optional backup module)
Flat-blade or Torx T-10 screwdriver
Warning
To prevent electrical shock, do not install equipment in a wet location or during an
electrical storm.
Caution
Electronic modules can be damaged by static electrical discharge. Before handling
modules, wear an antistatic discharge wrist strap to prevent damage to electrical
components. Place modules in antistatic packing material when transporting or storing.
When working with modules, always place them on an approved antistatic mat that is
electrically grounded.
Note
To access the command line interface (CLI) of the ProCurve Secure Router, you will also
need a VT100 terminal or PC with terminal emulation software and a
CONSOLE port
cable. Instructions on how to access the CLI are given in the Quick Start Guide shipped
with your router and in the SROS Command Line Interface Reference Guide (provided
on the ProCurve SROS Documentation CD).
