redistribute static [metric <value>]
Use the redistribute static command to pass routes from one network to another, regardless of the routing
protocol implemented on the routing domain. Using the static keyword allows the propagation of static
routes to other interfaces using the RIP routing protocol. Use the no form of this command to disable the
propagation of the specified route type.
Syntax Description
static Optional keyword that specifies the Secure Router OS to only propagate static
routes to other networks
metric
<value>
Optional.
Specifies the hop count to use for advertising redistributed OSPF routes in
RIP
.
Default Values
By default, RIP is not enabled.
Command Modes
(config-rip)# Router (RIP or OSPF) Configuration Mode required
Functional Notes
Redistributing static routes allows other network devices to learn about paths (not compatible with their
system) without requiring manual input to each device on the network.
Note
The gateway network for the static route must participate in RIP by using the network
command for the gateway network.
