spanning-tree priority <value>
Use the spanning-tree priority command to select the priority level of a port associated with a bridge. To
return to the default bridge-group priority value, use the no version of this command.
Syntax Description
<value> Priority value for the bridge group; the lower the value, the higher the priority (valid
range: 0 to 255)
Default Values
<value> 128
Command Modes
(config-interface)# Interface Configuration Mode
Valid interfaces include: Ethernet (eth 0/1), virtual PPP interfaces (ppp 1), and
virtual Frame Relay sub-interfaces (fr 1.20).
Functional Notes
The only time that this priority level is used is when two interfaces with a path to the root have equal cost.
At that point, the level set in this command will determine which port the bridge will use. Set the priority
value lower to increase the chance the interface will be used.
Usage Examples
The following example sets the maximum priority on the Frame Relay sub-interface labeled 1.16 in bridge
group 17:
(config)#interface frame-relay 1.16
(config-fr 1.16)#spanning-tree priority 0
