cansupportacachingmechanismcalledSmartResponseTechnology(SRT).SRTcachingusesasmallsolid-statedrive
(SSD)asacachetoalargerbutslowerharddiskdrive(HDD).InordertouseSRT,theBIOSmustbeinRAIDmode.SRTcan
beenabledandusedwithanyvolumeontheembeddedAHCIcontroller,includingRAIDvolumes.
How do I RAID HP Z Turbo Drives in Windows?
Atthistime,theonlyRAIDavailableforuseontheHPZTurboDriveissoftwareRAID.ForsoftwareRAIDinaWindows
environment,theRAIDsetupisperformedintheDiskManagementsnap-inontheMicrosoftManagementConsole.For
ClientWindowsOS,RAID0(calleda“stripedvolume”)andRAID1(calleda“mirroredvolume”)aresupported.
HPonlysupportsWindowsRAIDvolumesasdatavolumes.
BelowarethestepsforcreatingbothtypesofRAIDvolumes:
RAID 0 (striped volume):
• Ensureyouareloggedintothesystemwithadministrativerights.
• Right-clickonMy Computer and select Manage.
• SelecttheDisk Managementmoduleinthelefthandcolumn.
• RemovepartitionsfromthedisksyouwouldliketoincludeinyourRAID0array.
– Ensurethatanydatayouneedonthedrivesisbackedup.
– Right-clickonanyvolumespresentonthedisksandselectDelete Volume.
• Right-clickononeofthedisksyouwishtoincludeinyourarrayandselectNew Striped Volume.
• SelectthedisksyouwouldliketoincludeinyourRAID0array,andclicktheAddbuttontomovethemtothe
Selectedcolumn.
• Click Next.
• Changethedriverletterormountpointifdesired.
• Click Next.
• Setthedesiredformattingoptions.
• Click Next.
• Verifytheinformationinthedialogbox,andclickFinish to complete the process.
