Introduction to the Enterprise Virtual Array
The HP StorageWo rks Enterprise Virtual Array family is a high performance, scaled capacity, on
demand, "vi
rtual" RAID storage system.
This storag
e system is designed for environments where improved storage use and scalability is critical. It
meets appli
cation-speci c demands for consistently high transaction I/O (input/output) and MB data
rate perfo
rmance, and provides seamless capacity expansion, instantaneous replication, and simplied
storage administration.
The Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) is available in multiple congurations—each optimized for
general-purpose commercial environments and high-performance technical computing environments. The
solutions i nclude suppor t for multivendor operating system platforms and stringent data center availability
enhancements, such as multipathing and clustering.
This guide includes information for two Enterprise Virtual Array products: EVA8000, EVA6000, and
EVA4000
.
EVA8000—available in multiple congurations ranging from the single-rack 2C2D conguration
to the multi-rack 2C18D. The EVA8000 includes two HSV210 controllers and four FC loop
switches.
EVA600
0—available in congurations ranging from the 2C4D conguration to the 2C8D
congu
ration. The EVA6000 includes two HSV200 controllers and two FC loop switches.
EVA4000—available in congurations ranging from the 2C1D conguration to the 2C4 D
conguration without loops switches. The EVA 4000 includes two HSV200 c ontrollers. Multiple
EVA4000s can be installed in a single rack.
Refer to the HP StorageWorks 4000/6000/8000 Enterprise Virtual Array hardware conguration
guide for m ore information about congurations. See "Related documentation"onpage13forlinks
