Result: Once a backup is started, it appears under the Backup Management node under the
relevant instance or database name with a tape icon. The backup is given a timestamp that is
used as its name. When backup is done, the tape icon will be replaced by a normal database
icon and the backup time stamp will be shown up on the right information pane.
6.12 Deleting Backup from the Repository
To remove a backup repository from the GUI, use one of the methods described below:
1 Right-click on the backup timestamp node and select Delete Backup.
2 Click on the Delete Backup icon in the tool bar.
3 Select Delete Backup from the Actions drop-down menu on the menu bar.
Result: The virtual copy is removed from the Recovery Manager repository only.
6.13 Restoring an Instance or Database from Virtual Copy using
Volume Restore
The volume restore feature provides a quicker method for restoring an instance or a database
from a virtual copy.
Through this process, all snapshots will be promoted to the base volume. However, when using
this method, all data on the original volume will be overwritten.
To perform a volume restore from a virtual copy, follow these steps:
1 Locate the virtual copy timestamp node you wish to restore under Virtual Copy
Management in the left pane node tree, then select the volume restore using one of the
following methods:
NOTE: Restoring the volume from the snapshot is not supported in a shared
volume environment such as a Microsoft Cluster environment. However, you can
manually set the cluster resource to the maintenance mode, remove LUNs
exported to all cluster hosts, and promote the virtual copy to its parent base
volume with the InForm CLI commands. For more information, see the 3PAR
InForm OS CLI Administrator’s Manual.
