3PAR Confidential
2 A list of SQL Servers and their instances is displayed in the Recovery Manager for SQL Server
Register window.
a If a SQL Server’s instance is listed, the SQL Server’s instance has been automatically
discovered by the Recovery Manager GUI. Click on the Register checkbox next to the
entry, and click the Ok button to start the registration.
b If a SQL Server’s instance is not listed, you can manually register the instance.
To manually register an instance, enter the desired SQL server name and instance name
in the Server Name text field. Use the format
SQLServerName\instanceName.
◆ For the default instance, enter either the SQLServerName without the backslash, or
SQLServerName\default.
◆ For named instances, enter the SQL server name, the backslash, and the instance
name. For example: SQLServerName\instanceName.
NOTE: If your backup server and SQL production servers reside on different
networks, all of the available SQL servers may or may not be listed. The displayed
list of SQL servers may also vary depending on factors such as network traffic,
timeouts, routers, broadcasted packets being lost, and other network issues.
