This appendix is designed to be used like a Frequently Asked Questions section. It will help find
solutions to some of the common issues that may arise when running the Recovery Manager
for Microsoft SQL.
Problem:
Error message “VSS_E_PROVIDER_VETO” appears. Look at the application event log and VSS
provider log from the production server, and if there is a “Maximum of 28 writable virtual
copies per volume is allowed”, this may indicate that your snapshot capacity is used up.
Suggestion:
This error usually occurs during the mount operation. Unmount some of the virtual copies to
continue the operation.
Problem:
Recovery Manager validates configuration during operation, the validation might fail without
proper notification. During Recovery Manager InServ checking, it exits without any messages.
