9.3.1 Set Up Remote Copy Group for Databases
Follow these steps to set up Remote Copy for a given database:
1 Identify the volumes that contain the database and log files to be copied.
2 Create one remote copy group for one database.
3 Add the volumes belonging to the database files and log files into the remote copy group
with remote copy target volumes.
4 Synchronize the remote copy group.
Every database's log and database file should be added in one remote copy group. Two or
more databases in one remote copy group are not supported. DB files from the same database
and log files from the same database located in the different Remote copy group are not
supported.
If the database is not in the remote copy group the remote copy feature cannot be used.
9.3.2 Set Up Remote Copy Group for Instances
Follow these steps to setup Remote Copy for a given instance:
1 Identify the volumes that contain all database(s) and log files to be copied.
2 Create one remote copy group that will cover all database(s) under this instance.
3 Add the volumes belonging to this instance (all database files and log files) into the remote
copy group with remote copy target volumes.
4 Synchronize the remote copy group.
All database logs and database files should be added in the remote copy group.
All DB files from the same instance and log files from the same instance located in the
different Remote copy group are not supported. Essentially, use one single RC group and
configure all database files (that belong to this instance) to reside on volume(s) under this one
RC group.
