User Manual

Display settings uploading and downloading
Though Studio Cal XML is primarily designed for calibration-type functions, it is designed to provide
additional non-calibration functionality. The <user_settings> tag allows you to export a display conguration
to an XML le and then load that conguration back to the same display or deploy it to other displays.
This tag was designed to facilitate the “congure, calibrate, and deploy” model used by many large VFX and
animation studios. With this tag, IT can congure a single display so that all menus are congured as desired
then deploy that conguration onto all other displays in the facility. As this command is not calibration-
focused, it cannot be used with calibration-specic tags.
The tag contains two attributes and is structured as follows:
<user_settings operation="save|load"/>
The operation tag can be set to either “save” or “load.” If set to “save” the display’s conguration is written to
a le named “Z27X_UserSettings.xml” on the root of the attached USB drive. If this le already exists on the
drive, it is overwritten. Though this le is human-readable it is not designed to be manually edited and as a
result the tag attributes are not documented. If an attribute has been changed to a value that is out of range,
that attribute is skipped when being loaded into the display.
If set to “load,” the “Z27X_UserSettings.xml” le must be present on the inserted USB drive. It then loads the
settings into the display, replacing all existing settings with the new settings. Color space presets, being
calibration-based, are not aected by this command.
