This is why the company has already been working
almost exclusively with HP devices for a very long
time. A total of 40 HP printers are deployed at
the six branch offices. Lehmann says: “When HP
announced a new generation of high-performance
devices, the Designjet T7100, we wanted to test it
immediately.” After testing the product for a few
months, they have purchased two devices.
DPC Plot24 is particularly interested in the HP
Designjet T7100 in contrast to the previous
generation of devices because for the first time the
company is now able to print on standard uncoated
90 gm² paper without impairing the quality,
instead of on coated paper, which is signifi cantly
more expensive. “The new devices have reduced
our paper costs. Bearing in mind we use several
thousand square meters of paper every year, that
provides us with clear advantages with regard to
variable costs,” says an appreciative Lehmann.
The speed of the devices has also paid off quickly
for the print company: “In comparison with the
our old devices, the HP Designjet T7100 prints
approximately 30 per cent faster,” says Lehmann.
“For our customers, that means the plans are on
site faster and we are now able to handle more
and larger orders.” DPC Plot24 can now execute
a large-scale order within a few days, such as the
recent order placed by a general contractor for
3,000 plans in the DIN A0/E-size format.
“In order to be able to continue to grow, we
would otherwise have had to purchase more
devices to run in parallel. This would have
involved higher investment costs,” assures the
company owner. Today, DPC Plot24 has replaced
three older generation devices with two of the
new devices. “This enables us to increase output
using less space, which means we will not have
to expand our premises if we want to continue to
grow in future. Ultimately, the HP Designjet T7100
devices enable us to achieve more corporate
growth.”
The fact that the HP Designjet T7100 is equipped
with three rollers and an automatic roller change
function represents more advantages with regard
to time for DPC Plot24 as complex and costly
roller changes are no longer required. The plotter
automatically selects each roller with the right
paper.
According to Lehmann the print quality is also
just right even though the demands for quality in
construction plans are not as high as those in the
graphics field. The majority of what DPC Plot24
print output is colour plots from PDF or HP-GL2
files, but the company also prints black-and-white
plots. 95 per cent of print output is line drawings
from Computer Aided Design applications. The
quality meets today’s requirements 100 per cent.
The company owner is certain: “Without HP
printers, we would definitely not be where we are
today. The HP Designjet T7100 devices take us a
step further towards providing a faster and better
service for our customers.”
