Sport Sway Bar Kit 22436 Mazda3 / MazdaSpeed3 Thank you for your purchase from our new line of Mazda parts. Please call us at 877 - 4NO - ROLL if you have any questions regarding the service or installation of your Hotchkis Performance products. Installation of Hotchkis Front Sway Bar 1F 2F Raising Vehicle Raise front of the vehicle by using a 4 post lift or drive-on ramps. Securely block the rear wheels of the vehicle. Do not remove the front wheels during installation for safety.
3F Undo Exhaust Hangers 4F Disconnect Lower Engine Mount Use a pry bar or similar tool to undo the exhaust hangers. Locate and remove lower engine mount that attaches to subframe. Loosen and remove the bolt that attaches the mount to the engine.
5F Drop the Subframe Cradle 6F Undo the Sway Bar Bushing Bracket Bolts Loosen and remove the 4 subframe cradle bolts. The rear subframe mount has additional bolts, 2 per side. The cradle will not drop completely since it is still connected to the struts and steering rack, so you do not have to worry about it falling on top of you. Loosen and remove the sway bar bushing bracket bolts. There are 2 per bracket. Once the bolts are removed, the bar should be loose from the vehicle.
7F Remove the Front Sway Bar It’s a tight fit between the subframe and the body, so it will take some patience removing the sway bar. To ease removal, take off the bushings from the bar. It also helps raising the front of the vehicle slightly to gain more clearance. You will notice the steering column seal on the firewall will pop out of position. This is normal and is also an indication that you should be able to get more movement out of the cradle to pull the bar out.
8F Reinstall New Hotchkis Bar Repeat steps 1F through 7F in reverse order. Your new Hotchkis bar uses new bushings and brackets. The front bushing has a Ø1-1/8” hole. Use the supplied silicon grease to lube the inside surface of the bushings. Make sure to use thread lock compound on the subframe bushing bracket bolts and the end link nuts. The bushing brackets are slotted, so make sure they are shifted towards the rear of the vehicle.
Installation of Hotchkis Rear Sway Bar 1R 2R Raising Car Removal of the rear sway bar should be done at ride height, so the vehicle must be raised by a flat alignment style rack, or place the rear of the vehicle on ramps and securely block the front wheels. Remove Center Plate Remove the center plate that resides just underneath the rear sway bar.
3R 4R Detach End Links Loosen and remove the lower end link nuts from both sides, and push links aside. Undo the Sway Bar Bushing Bracket Bolts Loosen and remove the sway bar bushing bracket bolts. There are 2 per bracket. Once the bolts are removed, the bar should be loose from the vehicle.
5R Reinstall New Hotchkis Bar Repeat steps 1R through 4R in reverse order. Your new Hotchkis bar uses new bushings and brackets. The rear bushing has a Ø1-1/4” hole. Use the supplied silicon grease to lube the inside surface of the bushings. Make sure to use thread lock compound on the subframe bushing bracket bolts and the end link nuts. When tightening the subframe bushing bracket bolts, make sure the center of the bar clears the center plate.
6R Install Centering Collars 7R Double Check Hardware To ensure the rear bar stays centered, Hotchkis provides split clamp-on collars. First, center the bar left to right so that the end links are at equal angles. Next, install the collars on the inside of the bushing edge. Make sure the collars are butted up against the bushings. Fully tighten the 2 socket bolts on each collar. Make sure all hardware is fully tightened before driving the vehicle. You are done with the installation.
