Introduction The Galaxy 2 Series is a programmable alarm control panel that will allow you to protect your home or business by providing secure and reliable intruder detection. The system can be fully tailored by your installer to operate in the most convenient way for your lifestyle or working practice.
Controlling Your Alarm System Users Each person who uses the system is described as a ‘User’ and can have their own unique identity, in the form of a PIN code, prox tag or wireless keyfob, or a combination of all three. Different users can have a different level of access to the alarm system functions. All this can be set up in the user programming section described later. The control panel can be controlled in one of three ways: 1. By entering a PIN code at a keypad and pressing function buttons. 2.
Keypads There are two types of keypad available as shown below but both work in a similar manner. The number buttons are for entering PIN codes and for changes options. The function keys down the side have the following use: A>: This scrolls forward in a list or menu and activates a FULL set. B<: This scrolls backwards in a list or menu and activates a PART or NIGHT set. ent: This saves a current setting or activates the currently displayed command.
Wireless Keyfobs Keyfobs are portable controllers that can be attached to a key ring. They will allow you to Set and Unset the system by a single press of a button and can sometimes be programmed with additional functions. Because they operate by radio, they can be used anywhere around the premises provided that they are within range of the installed radio receiver. NOTE: Labels are provided to place over the buttons to indicate the function.
If you hear a rapid beeping sound, the system cannot set as there are open zones. The keypad will show which zones are open. Open Zone 1044 NOTE: Display not shown when using wireless keyfobs to set the system. The setting procedure can be cancelled at any time during the exit time by pressing the esc key on the keypad, the [OFF] button on the keyfob or placing the tag back in front of the prox symbol.
Setting with Faults Normally, if there is a fault of any kind on the system, setting will not be permitted until the fault is rectified. However, depending on the set-up of your system and the level of your user access, it may be possible override a fault and proceed with the setting procedure. If there are faults present when you try to set via the keypad, the following typical display will be shown: Fault Override 03 Event(s)> Use the cursor keys to scroll through the faults.
Cancelling an Alarm The process for cancelling an alarm is similar to unsetting the system. However, if a wireless keyfob or prox tag has been used, the alarms must be viewed on a keypad by typing in a user code and following the on-screen instructions. Only certain users are able to reset the system following an alarm condition. You installer will inform you which users have this ability. How to Restore an Alarm Alarms, faults and tampers will be restored provided: 1. The cause has cleared. 2.
Setting and Unsetting Groups It is possible to split the alarm system into separate areas or ‘Groups’ that can be set and unset independently. Different users can be given access to only certain groups, or to all groups. Also, individual users can be given the option of simply setting and unsetting all groups assigned to their code or choosing which groups to set or unset each time.
Menu Access To access the other functions of the system, users can enter the menu mode by typing their PIN code and pressing the ent button. This will display the first menu item after showing system status for five seconds. 10 = Setting [ent] to Select Users can then navigate around the menu using the scroll keys, ent key and esc key, or they can jump to any specific menu item directly by typing the number of the item. An overview of all the accessible functions is shown below.
Menu 11 - Omit Zones This function allows a user to temporarily disable a detection zone from the system (for example, to disable a movement detector when a dog is left in the house). Zone omits last for one set period only and automatically switch off when the system is unset. On entering the menu option, the first omittable zone is displayed. The A> and B< scroll keys can be used to select the different zones in turn. To omit a particular zone, scroll to the zone so that it is displayed on screen.
Menu 22 - View Log This option displays the system event log. The log records all events that occur in the system and is vital for tracing the chain of events during a break-in or when trying to trace a fault. On entering the option, the most recent event is displayed on screen in the following format: Event Time Date 09:51 1021+ 01/08/04 Intruder Event Source Event Type Pressing the B< key will jump backwards in time by one event. Pressing the A> key will jump forwards by one event.
Menu 31 - Walk Test This menu allows the zones to be manually tested. There are two sub-options to this function as follows: 1 = Test all Zones This puts all omittable zones into walk test immediately. 2 = Test Selected Zones This allows the user to select specific zones to be put into test. On selecting the option, the first zone is displayed with the zone number and description on the top row. On the bottom row, the test status is displayed.
0 1 User 1 * 1 2 3 4 User(L2) The A> and B< keys are used to select the user to be edited. Pressing ent will show the options for that user, starting with the PIN option. Again, the A> and B< keys can be used to move between the options. Pressing the ent key allows the displayed option to be modified. Most users can only access the PIN option. Only Master users can access the other functions.
7 = Duress The duress function, when enabled, forces a panic signal to be sent to the monitoring station each time the user PIN, fob or tag is used. Duress codes should only be used in emergency situations when there is a threat to life. Menu 44 - Mobile Numbers This option allows the SMS text messaging feature to be altered. The system can send event messages to up to three mobile phones by text messaging.
