Precautions for safe handling
Further processing of solid materials may result in the formation of
combustible dusts. The potential for combustible dust formation
should be taken into consideration before additional processing
occurs.
Conditions for safe storage, including any
incompatibilities
Keep in a dry place.
5 – FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
When changing or replacing filters avoid dust formation. Avoid
breathing vapours, mist or gas.
No special environmental precautions required.
Specific end use(s) Where proper protective equipment when handling used filters.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Sweep up and shovel. Keep in suitable, closed containers for
disposal.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Means of Extinction:
Special hazards arising from the
substance or mixture:
Advice for firefighters
Use sutiable extinguishing media; water spray, alcohol resistant
foam, or dry chemical.
Carbon oxides
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

SECTION 8 — EXPOSURE CONTROL / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Airborne Exposure Limits:
- OSHA Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs) -
For Activated Carbon (graphite, synthetic):
total particulate = 15 mg/m3 (TWA),
respirable fraction = 5 mg/m3 (TWA).
For Silica: Crystalline Quartz:
total dust = 30/(%SiO2 + 2) mg/m3
respirable fraction = 10/(%SiO2 + 2) mg/m3.
Appropriate engineering controls
General industrial hygiene practice.
