Note: 10-digit dialing is most common
in rapidly growing major metropolitan
areas that have more than one area
code in a dialing area.
Example
Metro Atlanta, Georgia, is a good
example of a 10-digit dialing area.
Callers from within any of three
Atlanta area codes can place local
(non-toll) calls to any other number
within those three area codes by
dialing xxx-xxx-xxxx.
