Electrical Requirements and Recommendations for 115V Spas that Plug In
ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS AND INSTALLATION
All electrical connections must be performed by a qualied licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC)
following state and local electrical codes in eect at the time of the installation.
A licensed electrician must install a dedicated 115V/20 amp service from the main power supply.
Plug the GFCI cord directly into the outlet.
An appropriately rated GFCI cord is attached. Test the GFCI on the cord before each use. Replace damaged cords immediately to reduce
the risk of electric shock. Failure to do so may result in serious permanent injury or death by electrocution.
Never alter the GFCI cord. Do not use an extension cord or surge protector.
Never use the spa with the equipment compartment door removed.
The power supplied to your spa must be a dedicated circuit with no other appliances, lighting, or other electronic components shared by
the circuit. Connecting the spa to an improperly wired circuit will eliminate many of the spa’s built in safety features which may result in
re, electrocution, or other risk of injury. Damage to the spa that is the result of improper electrical installation is not covered under the
manufacturer’s warranty and will terminate all listings from independent listing agencies.
The spa must be disconnected from the power supply when it is not lled with water. When power is supplied to the spa, critical
components within the spa automatically activate. If power is applied to the components when the spa is empty, the components may
be damaged instantly. Damage that occurs to the spa because power was supplied before it is lled with water is not covered by the
manufacturer’s warranty. Turn the power o at the main circuit breaker and unplug the cord from the outlet before draining, attempting
maintenance or servicing the spa.
Do not permit any electrical appliances like lights, telephones, MP3 players, radios or televisions within ve feet (1.5m) of the spa unless
they were built in by the manufacturer. Failure to maintain a safe distance may result in death or serious injury from electrocution if the
appliance should fall into the spa. All metal components or accessories that are permanently installed like handrails, ladders, drains and
hardware that are within 5 feet (1.5 m) of the spa must be bonded to the equipment grounding bus with copper conductors no smaller
than No. 6 AWG.

The GFCI cord is inside the cabinet access panels labeled “REMOVE THIS PANEL FOR ELECTRICAL”. In most models, the panel is
underneath the spa’s top side control pad.
