AF300 Filter: “AF” stands for Air Flow and “300” represents the 300 mm

air ow surface area on every AF300 Filter
Closed Pouch: A pouch without a spout or a clamp. Quick and easy
to discard. It must be removed to be emptied
Colostomy: An ostomy (surgical opening) created in the colon, part
of the large intestine
ComfortWear Pouch Panels: Lining over the plastic of the pouch to
enhance comfort and discretion. The soft pouch panels may be on one
or both sides of the pouch
Convex Skin Barrier: May be used when the stoma does not protrude
from the abdomen. The skin barrier is shaped to press more deeply
around the stoma
Cut-to-Fit Skin Barrier: A skin barrier that can be cut to the right size
and shape for the stoma by using a scissors
Drainable Pouch: A pouch with an opening at the bottom. An integrated
closure or clamp is used to keep the pouch closed until it’s time to empty it
Extended Wear Skin Barrier: Skin barriers with special additives that
achieve a stronger adhesive seal and are more resistant to breakdown.
Skin barrier of choice for urostomies and ileostomies. Flextend and
FormaFlex are examples. It is not recommended to use skin-prepping
agents under extended wear skin barriers
Filter: Lets gas but not odor out of pouch. The key performance factors
of any lter are air ow, deodorization, and liquid protection
Flange: The plastic ring in a two-piece ostomy system that is used
to connect the two parts together
Flat Skin Barrier: May be used when the stoma does protrude from
the abdomen
Flextend Skin Barrier: Flextend is an extended wear skin barrier that is
durable and offers high resistance to erosion. It swells when it comes in
contact with liquid to help form a seal between the skin and the stoma.
It offers strong adhesion and exibility
FlexWear Skin Barrier: FlexWear is a standard wear skin barrier that
provides moderate adhesion, and offers a good balance of durability and
gentleness. It is designed to be worn more than one day and tends to
hold its shape in the presence of uids
Floating Flange: Allows for ngers to be put under the ange for
support while attaching the pouch to the barrier on a two-piece pouching
system. The New Image system has an integrated oating ange
FormaFlex Skin Barrier: An extended wear skin barrier which is
resistant to discharge. It has the ability to be stretched to t the size and
shape of the stoma without the use of a scissors. Found as an option in
the New Image two-piece system
