1.3 Explanations for the Instruction Manual
1.3.1 Safety Instructions and Pictographs
Safety instructions always appear in the same format in the instruction manual. This
manual contains four different levels of safety instructions.
DANGER indicates a hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, will result in death or serious
injury.
WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, could result in death or serious
injury.
CAUTION used with the safety alert symbol,
indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE is used to address practices not related
to personal injury.
As used in this instruction manual in general and with regard to safety information,
safety messages and warnings in particular, the following words have the following
meanings:
May This word is understood to be permissive. You can do what is
mentioned.
Shall This word is understood to be mandatory. You must do what is
required.
Should This word is understood to be advisory. It would be a good idea to do
what is described and it is recommended that you comply.
This symbol indicates an alternative method of performing a particular task or
provides additional information about a topic.
