10 Do's and Don'ts
DO
Ensure that the ClassiFire alarm fac tor i s appropriately set.
Ensure that cables are correctly connected before powering up by use of cable i dentifi ers or
electrical c ontinuity checks. Incorrect c onnec tion could damage t he detector.
Ensure that cable of an appropr iate approved type is used for inter connection.
Pl ace sampling points so that the detector will be abl e to detect smok e at t he earl iest opport unity.
Ensure that the detec tor exhaust is i n an area wit h the same atmospheri c pressure as the sampling
pipes, either by pl aci ng the detector physically in the protect ed area or by leading a pipe fr om t he
detec tor exhaust to the protec ted area.
Ensure that the environm ent of the protected area i s within the env ironmental operating parameters
of the detector (temperature -10 to +60°C, (humidit y 0-90%, non-c ondensi ng) .
DON’T
For get to set the appropr iate ClassiFi r e alarm factor for the area to be detected.
For get to set the Det ector A ddr ess Swi tches correctly when used in a network.
Si te detec tors in damp or exposed areas.
Rem ove or connect boards when t he detector is powered up.
Connect inter nal 0 v olt t erminal s to loc al ear th.
Attempt to re-use dust separator cartri dges once rem oved.
Attempt to adj ust or alter detector settings other than v ia the user-pr ogr am mabl e functions. In
part icular, the setting up of the laser is a precisi on task, and onc e set up the potenti om eters shoul d
be left alone. If it is suspect ed that t he laser alignm ent has shifted ( e.g. after droppi ng the det ec tor),
it shoul d be r eturned to Hochiki Europe (UK) Ltd for r ecal ibrati on.
Pl ace the detect or near high power RF sources.
Oper ate the detector with the front cover removed, or with one or more of the cover fixi ng screws
loose or m issing.
Test the response of the detector using aer osol synt hetic smok e.
