2.2 Alarm Level s and Delays Tab
2.2.1 Alarm Levels - (Level subgroup)
The v alue set i n the Fi r e, Pr e-Al arm and Aux functions in the Level subgroup is the r elativ ely scaled
bargraph level at which the appr opr iate alarm is initiated on the det ec tor. The Fi r e 2 lev el assigns an
absolut ely scaled alarm level in % obs/m.
The A ux lev el is set by f ac tory default at lev el 10 whic h m eans that this al arm will occur after the Fire
alarm. The default level settings for P r e-Alarm and Fire 1 ar e 6 and 8 r espect ively. T he default setting for
Fire 2 is 20% obs/ m.
2.2.2 Alarm Delays - (Delay subgroup)
The alarm delay is the number of seconds that an alarm lev el has to be continuously sensed bef or e the
alarm i s i nitiated. Each alarm level has a programm able delay of between 0 and 90 seconds. T he default
delay for each alarm level is 5 sec onds.
2.2.3 ClassiFire® Override
This functi on has no cur r ent use on the FIRElink - 25 but is reserved for future expansi on pur pose s.
2.2.4 Alarm Factor
The detector sensitivity is set with this ent r y , which will also affec t t he pr obability of nuisance alarms. 0 =
high sensitivity, hi gher pr obability, 8 = low sensit ivit y, lower probability. The default alarm factor is 4.
Note: The hi ghest sensit ivity set ting is suitable for cl ean, environmentally controlled environments, e. g.
semiconduct or manuf acturing clean r ooms where airbor ne poll utant s are kept to an absolute
minimum and the least contamination is cause for al arm.
Use of this setting in a busy machine shop would l ead to relativ ely frequent nuisance alarms due
to t he normal v ari ation of atmospheric contaminat ion and a l ower sensitiv ity setting is
recom mended. It is therefore important t hat t he alarm factor chosen is suit able for the ar ea to be
prot ec ted. When t he appr opr iate alarm factor for the protec ted area has been set, nuisance
alarms will be r educ ed to an absol ute m inimum .
The following tabl e giv es suggested settings of ClassiF ir e alarm setting for different locations:
0 Extremely High Onc e per y ear Semiconduct or manuf ac turing clean room
1 Onc e per 5 y ear s Com puter room
2 Onc e per 10 y ear s Non-sm ok ing office
3 Once per 50 years Clean factory
4 Medium Onc e per 1000 y ear s Warehouse
5 Medium Onc e per 5000 y ear s Warehouse with diesel tr uc k s operat ing
6 Medium Onc e per 10000 y ear s Warehouse with diesel tr uc k s operat ing
7 Low Onc e per 20000 y ear s Warehouse with diesel tr uc k s operat ing
8 Low Onc e per 100000 y ear s Warehouse with diesel tr uc k s operat ing
