Operation Manual

05-7
Rules for the roof load:
Only stand or walk on the roof when the roof
rail is attached. Use only a standardised and
licensed ladder to climb up to the roof.
The roof has not been made for concentrated
single loads. Generously cover the standing
area before you step on the roof. Materials with
a smooth and soft surface, such as a Styrofo-
am board, are suitable for this.
The maximum total load for the roof
rail is 80 kg!
Be careful when standing on the
roof. There is a great danger that you
will slip if the roof is wet or icy.
5.6 Roof and roof rail
Rules for loading the roof rail:
Fasten the carrier or the cross braces for the
roof loads to the roof rail.
Only store light baggage on the roof.
Lash the roof load sufciently and secure it
against slippage or falling.
Do not load the roof excessively! The heavier
the roof load, the worse the overall handling of
the vehicle.
The maximum permissible load for
the roof rail is 50 kg.
Note the maximum permissible axle
burdens. Calculate the measure-
ments of the roof load in relation to
the vehicle height. Post a note of the
total vehicle height in a highly visible
place near the driver. Then you no
longer have to calculate when ap-
proaching bridges and thoroughfa-
res. Do not cover the waste gas ue.
